Virtues of our beloved Satguru Swami Teoonramji, nº 18

This human life has been gifted solely to unite with the Almighty. Because real happiness lies in this unification only. This unity is both outwards and inwards. Both are essential for every being but the individual is unable to make it because those who wish to meet the Lord have to surrender their selfish needs.

The precious and rare Human life is been given to sing the glories of the Lord. Except the hymns of God there is no other companion of Human Beings. The members of the family leave one in middle of the journey called ‘Life’.

Therefore Swamiji said all Human beings should work towards a trade that will be useful in their life after their death.

That kind of the spiritual wealth should be accumulated which doesn't depreciate and one never incurs loss in that transaction ever.

One day when Swamiji was traveling from one village to another he arrived at a village called ‘Bane’ late in the evening; so they decided to spend the night here before the proceed further on their tour. The entire mandli was very tired after a whole day of travel so they all sat on a raised area outside a shop but the ruthless shopkeeper came screaming for them to vacate the place. Everybody was shocked at his reaction because he was acting as if they were robbers. The devotees accompanying Sai in the tour started questioning the shopkeeper for the reason of his objection of them sitting down outside his shop. When the argument starting worsening Sai told the 2-3 devotees to look for another place in the village for them to rest. Strangely the devotees returned disappointed. They told Sai that even the Saint in a darbar in the village was not ready to accommodate them. Finally, they located a verandah outside a house and decided to spend the night there. Soon after keeping their belongings and settling down in the verandah, the servant of the house saw them and urged them to leave that place too.

Gurumaharaj in His discourse said that the most important job of Humans is to conquer the mind because it is the mind which is extremely powerful. The mind can be one’s best friend and it is the same mind that can be one’s worst enemy. He explained through His teachings that we consistently need to keep a tab on the mind, be aware of the thoughts, the direction in which it is taking you and keep redirecting it on our Goal.

The father of Swami Gurumukhdas, Bhagat Lakhmichand, (who was Swami Teoonram's sister, Gyanibai's husband) was critical. He sent a message to Swamiji to visit him so that he can obtain his darshan during his last few breaths. When Swamiji met Lakhmichand, Swamiji told him to contemplate on his soul; know for sure that your soul is not destructible, Soul is not subject to birth and death. This body is made up of five elements and is destroyable. Even if the body gets destroyed you don't get destroyed. Keep on reiterating this. The following morning Lakhmichand left for heavenly abode. Swamiji in His discourse said that this body made up of five basic elements and 25 natural elements; the body is so beautiful. The Lord has created this so beautifully that numerous beings are amazed seeing this miracle. Many scholars also get trapped seeing this wonderful miracle. But this all is merely illusion.

Swamiji's mother Mata Krishnadevi used to get very worried because there were many days when there was no provision at home and there used to be huge crowd of devotees and Saints. Swamiji assured her that the Almighty will provide food for all and that there is no need to worry. When times were severe the elder daughter-in-law sold her jewelry to buy grocery but the Bhandara used to go on at Swamiji residence.

Swamiji said that ‘Honi badi balwan hain’, whatever is meant to happen will definitely happen. The following six are in the hands of the almighty. Gain-Loss, Birth-Death and Success-Failure these cannot be forgone. Whatever seed you have sown the fruit of that you will have to bear. There are three kinds of deeds.

1. Sanchit Karma - these are deeds accumulated from several births
2. Prarabadh Karma-the association of all the deeds with which you have received the Human Body
3. Kriyaman Karma - the good and bad deeds done on a daily basis

Virtues of our beloved Satguru Swami Teoonramji, nº 8

Meaning that when I was unwell, there was a very well known and reputed doctor nearby but I could reach out to him because I had cataract in my eyes. Now after the doctor has gone I cry in repentance.

Swamiji says that similarly, ignorant beings also cry in the same way; Saints were in my neighborhood; I also had vices like greed, desire, jealousy but my mind was engaged in excessively worrying about them. I was restless; was blind in pride and ego. I was unable to seek a remedy from the Saints and now when the Saints have reached Brahamlok then I understood their importance. Today I weep on the missed opportunity. Now these ignorant beings serve at the temples and Tombs of these Saints; they attain societal rewards but are deprived of the real fruit of their association i.e. ‘Liberation’.

Whenever Swamiji went away from home, Mata Krishnadevi and other devotees used to be wilt; they used to not enjoy anything without Him. Although the satsang used to happen regularly but without the Lord, his devotees who were like Gopis used to yearn for Him and crave for His darshan. After waiting for a day or two they used to go out in search of Swamiji; they would not return unless they met Swamiji.

Swamiji said that without Love humans are like animals. Everyone has love in their heart but the greatest amongst all is the Love that we have for the Almighty.

One day when Swamiji was doing Satsang in ‘Bhittshah’, Bhakt Tanuran asked Sai that while we listen to the discourses, and when we are obtain the darshan of Saints and Guru our joy has no boundaries; we feel full of Love and Divinity; we realize the whole world is selfish; it only Saints who are selfless and their love is unconditional; we think that we will leave the whole world and go and meditate and unite with the Almighty at the earliest. But the moment we leave the premises of satsang, we get back to worldly affairs and once again get so involved that now the world starts looking real and we forget the teachings of the Saints. Tanuram requested Swamiji to help him so that we can always remain detached and remain blissful.

(The same problem we go through; now before we go for the Chiatra mela let us listen from Gurumaharaj Himself the solution to retain the bliss of the mela)

As time passed Swamiji's kept getting more and more detached from worldly affairs and spent most of the time in meditation or in satsang. Several people became Swamiji's followers amongst them was Ramzan, who despite of being a Muslim who very influenced by Swamiji’s teachings; he not only took mantra diksha from Swamiji but also did seva. He faced a lot of opposition from his family and was beaten ruthlessly by them; he was removed from his community and was accused by everyone in his society. He took all this in stride and despite all the austerities had firm faith in Swamiji and continued to visit and do Seva.

Swamiji underwent many austerities by the villagers in protest of the youth getting associated with Swamiji. Sant Budhpuri who came to visit Swamiji in that period, questioned Him that why there is such a big racket about the issue and why are nasty village making such a big noise? The news of harassing you has not only reached neighboring village but the news has spread right uptill Hyderabad. The reply of this question was so skillfully articulated that Sant Budhpurii commended Swamiji; he stated that he interacted with a lot of Learned Scholars but they way Swami Teoonram explained the rationale and reasoning behind the event linking it spiritually, it was most impressive.

The path of Divine Love is not easy; it may be easy to commence this journey but to tread on it bearing severities like accusations, criticisms, ridicule; overcoming them and reaching the destination is possible only by rare individual.

While Swamiji initiated many devotees He always warned them that although they has a burning desire to surrender themselves initially in the service of the Lord; it is essential they understood the difficulties on this path and the fear of backtracking which has to be conquered to unite with our Beloved.

Swamiji continued to sincerely carry out all his duties assigned to Him of fetching water from the well for the household and He attentively took care of needs and affectionately served the Saints. Whatever time was available after completion of these services, He utilized it for remembering and singing glories of the Lord. He chose secluded places like graveyards, river bank, etc where he serenely meditated on the Almighty.

The Inspirational Life of our Acharya Pujnya, Satguru Swami Teoonramji Maharaj

The Lord has said that whenever there is a fall in righteousness I incarnate to reinforce the virtues of righteousness in Humans. The duty of fire is to burn and spread light; if fire does not perform this act then it will be called ash. Thus all living and non living entities are based on foundation of righteousness. Honesty is an essential part of righteousness.

Firstly it is difficult to understand what is right and it is even more difficult to work on the path of righteousness because humans get entangled with the vices of attachment, greed, fear, ego and lust. To protect and guide us on the righteous path God himself incarnated in the form of Satguru Swami Teoonramji Maharaj whose life story will be discussed in the next 21 days.

The attempt is to read about the grandeur of our great Spiritual Master, who has had a unique way of leading the devotees on the path of Love of the Almighty. In today's world it is very very difficult to get a genuine Master and such a loving foundation who loves us more than our own family. Read on more about the infinite grace that has been bestowed on us to get the refuge of Sai Teoonram.

As Gurumaharaj prepares us before every satsang by singing ‘hare ram, govind jai jai’ to cleanse our mind and to make us more receptive to the knowledge he imparts; similarly let us read about our Satguru for the next 21 days to be contemplate and comprehend the stories of His lifetime to be more receptive of the knowledge that will be bestowed to us and value the precious opportunity of participating in the mela.
